Our Impactful Projects

Education allows students to prosper, and opens many doors for opportunity. However, many students from underprivileged families need help getting education. There are many obstacles that make getting an adequate education difficult. Some students need help going to school because families need their children to help work to be able to survive. Some schools need help with training their teachers, getting equipment, and improving infrastructure to help provide a world class education for students. SLF recognizes these issues, and works to develop projects to overcome the hardships of getting a good education.

We design our projects to bring students to good schools and enable them a good education. Supporting the education of one child fosters the potential to transform the child’s life, his or her family’s life, and the community as a whole.

The SLF organization currently has three projects:

Each one helps students and their families to get the education they need to be prosperous in life. We have already a lot of success providing a good education to many students, but we will always strive to do better. SLF, as a whole, is always open for new projects, ideas, and expansion. SLF, as a whole, is always adapting to the new hurdles that we are given, so that underprivileged students and families receive the same opportunity as everyone else does.

Project DETAILS

Assist Students for Education (ASE)

Many students in rural areas struggle with a lack of funding and resources that enable a proper education. The Assist Students for Education(ASE) program (previously known as the Adopt a Family for Education), is an SLF project that aims to assist needy students in their journey through education. Through project ASE, SLF volunteers aim to find underprivileged students in the local community to bring them into the program, and guide them through their educational career.  Families have the opportunity to fill out the SLF-ASE recommendation form for a student, which is later verified by SLF. After verification, the SLF Board of Directors checks if the student meets the criteria to get into the ASE program. Once a student gets approved, SLF assigns the student to a certain sponsor who funds and keeps track of the student’s progress through their educational journey. With these steps, Project ASE ensures that students from underprivileged backgrounds are financially supported through their educational journey. Since 2000, project ASE has helped thousands of students and families change their life for the better through education.

Interactive Sessions (IS)

Many underprivileged students struggle with getting a higher education as a result of insufficient career guidance. So in 1999, SLF began Project Interactive Sessions(IS), with the intent of helping answer any questions that students and their parents have in relation to college. In addition to answering questions, Project IS offers students career advice and keeps students involved in the college admissions process. Career guidance benefits the community as it helps students understand more about various fields and opportunities available. Additionally, this project gives advisory to the parents of students, this ranges from convincing the parents to encourage students to follow their dreams to answering general questions that they may have. So far, Project IS has helped numerous students achieve huge milestones that would’ve been very difficult to reach without SLF’s help.

Improve Existing Schools (IES)

The Saraswath Learning Foundation started a project called IES in 1999 as one of its many plans to help children through education. We recognized that in many underprivileged neighborhoods, students don’t get quality education because of limited funding. This project helps to improve existing schools with financial support. We supply schools with resources they need to give the students a better studying experience. We’ve put this project into action in 1999. We helped four other schools as part of this project. One of the schools we helped is the Ganapathi Higher Primary School. From 2017-2018, our organization donated $2000 for the teachers and transportation. Considering that most of the students lived in villages and that there weren’t many teachers, this was beneficial. We also introduced teaching English starting at 1st grade. In 2018 and 2019, we built new bathrooms, a new stage/classroom, and donated school bags to all of our students. We’ve also helped mobilize donations from local donors and old students. Our work increased the number of students from 35 to 44. When we started collaborating with our first school, we donated as much as we could. We give to the schools as much as we can, but we will always need your help. Our foundation helps many kids to have a good encounter with their education. If you donate to the Saraswat Learning Foundation, we can give even more children a good schooling.
